My name is Julie Cantillon and the 2009/2010 school year is my eighth year at Stella Maris Academy. Before moving to San Diego, I lived in Boston, Massachusetts, where I was born and raised. I received my bachelor's degree in Psychology in 2000 from Saint Anselm College in Manchester, New Hampshire. After graduating, I went on to earn a master's degree in Elementary Education in 2002 from Simmons College in Boston, Mass. During that time, I completed a one-year internship teaching third grade in Brookline, Mass. Currently, I am in my fifth year in an educational leadership program at the University of San Diego. When I'm not working, I enjoy spending time with my friends, running, traveling, and reading. I also love the Red Sox and going to Fenway Park. Each summer, I have the opportunity to work with other teachers in the Schools Attuned program. We'll be using this program in class to learn about learning. Below are a few pictures of my classroom when I was ten years old. I named it “Underground Elementary” because it was in my basement. I used to subscribe to teachers’ magazines when I was young and used my allowance to buy desks and books. |

This past summer I had the opportunity to work in Kaunas, Lithuania with young adults who have special needs.
I'm pictured with Reda, who lives at Vyliompolie Institute.
