“Meet the Immigrants” Talk Show

You are going to be part of a panel on a T.V. talk show. I, Miss Cantillon, will be your host and interviewer. You will pretend to be one of the following: a pioneer who traveled the Oregon Trail, a Pilgrim, an early settler of the Spanish Missions, or a Chinese immigrant. You will find the information you need on our class website under “Web Sites, Student Resources, & Project Directions.” You will also find information in your textbook. Make sure to use your note-taking sheet and get good details so you’re a well-informed guest on my show. You may choose to transfer your research to note cards, to be more organized. When you present, you will need to discuss the following information:

1. Problems

2. Joys

3. Family – You will need to make up family members. Use information from the websites to help you with this.

4. Items carried

5. Health problems (some of your family members may become ill)

6. Reasons for immigrating

7. How did people treat you when you arrived at your destination?

8. What are your opinions about problems today’s immigrants might have?
